This study will be a 6 week exploration of the book of Acts. To guide our study we will use the book and video, Acts - Catching Up With the Spirit, by Professor Mathew Skinner. Dr Skinner is an ordained Elder in the Presbyterian church and Professor of New Testament at Luther Seminary. This will be a thematic rather than chronological study.
The author calls the book of Acts one of the wildest books in the Bible, with it's miraculous prison escapes, shipwrecks, ordinary people speaking in tongues, life- changing experiences and speeches, communal sharing and living, etc. But it also can teach us much about what it means to live faithfully in today's complex and ever-changing world. As we watch the 1st century Christians "catch up with the Spirit", we are challenged to do the same.
