Justice / Church & Society

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for justice; they shall have their fill. (Mt. 5:6)

The charge of the Church and Society (C&S) ministry team is to work for justice—to stand alongside of those harmed by oppressive systems and to advocate for change.  In order to work toward that goal, we have adopted the following mission statement:

We will contemplate the biblical mandates for justice, educate our congregation, engage disciples in the work of justice, and inspire others to advocate for issues of justice.

Our current areas of focus include:

  • poverty and hunger,
  • environmental justice, and
  • human rights (specifically racial justice and LGBTQ issues).
